About Pearson Edexcel Past Papers
Pearson Edexcel is the UK's second largest exam board after AQA, and part of Pearson plc — the world's largest education company. Edexcel provides GCSEs, A Levels, and internationally recognised qualifications including IGCSE and International A Level (IAL), which are popular across the Middle East, South Asia, and 80+ countries worldwide.
PapersDaddy provides free Edexcel past papers from 2001–2025, including question papers (QP), mark schemes (MS), and specimen papers. Edexcel GCSE papers use the 9-1 grading scale, with Foundation and Higher tiers available for Maths and Science subjects. Edexcel A Level papers use the traditional A*-E grading system.
Edexcel exams are held across two main sessions: May/June and January. May/June is the main session for all qualifications; the January series covers International GCSE and International A Level (IAL), which are modular and assessed across the year. A smaller November series offers GCSE English and Mathematics resits, and October sessions run for some International A Level units. Edexcel is known for its clear, structured exam papers and detailed mark schemes that make self-assessment straightforward.
Practising with past papers is the single most effective revision strategy. Students who regularly attempt Edexcel past papers under timed conditions develop familiarity with the exam format, question styles, and mark allocation — leading to significantly higher scores. Start with the most recent papers and work backwards for the best preparation.

They are the same thing. Edexcel is the exam board brand name, and Pearson is the parent company. The full name is 'Pearson Edexcel', but most people simply say 'Edexcel'. All Edexcel qualifications are developed, administered, and marked by Pearson.
Edexcel GCSEs use the 9-1 grading scale, where 9 is the highest grade and 1 is the lowest. Grade 4 is considered a 'standard pass' (equivalent to the old C grade), and grade 5 is a 'strong pass'. For tiered subjects like Maths and Science, Foundation tier targets grades 5-1 and Higher tier targets grades 9-4.
Edexcel exams are held across two main sessions: May/June and January. May/June is the main session for all qualifications — most UK students sit their exams then, at the end of Year 11 (GCSE) or Year 13 (A Level), with results released in August. The January series covers International GCSE and International A Level (IAL), which are modular and assessed across the year. A smaller November series offers GCSE English and Mathematics resits, and October sessions run for some International A Level units.
Edexcel GCSE and A Level are designed for students in England and follow the UK national curriculum. Edexcel International GCSE (IGCSE) and International A Level (IAL) are designed for international schools and cover similar content but with modular assessment options. Both are offered by Pearson and recognised worldwide.
