If the question asks 'define X', do NOT lead with an example — give the AQA specification wording first. 'Open skill' = 'a skill affected by the environment'. Bones, muscles and processes must be named in full and spelled correctly: 'tibialis anterior' (not 'tibialis'), 'fibula' (not 'fibia'), 'inspiratory reserve volume' (not 'IRV'). For cool-down responses, force yourself to use 'vasoconstriction' and 'vasodilation' — generic phrases like 'blood vessels open up' lose AO1 marks.

Memorise the tree: contractions split into ISOMETRIC (no change in muscle length, no movement — e.g. plank) and ISOTONIC. Isotonic splits into CONCENTRIC (muscle shortens, e.g. bicep on the lifting phase of a curl) and ECCENTRIC (muscle lengthens under tension, e.g. bicep on the lowering phase). Practise identifying each phase of named actions until automatic.
